61 - Strasburg Up For The Game, But Loses To TV 74-62 (1-28-61)

SUGARCREEK - Strasburg High had plenty of bounce and zip last night at Tusky Valley (5-1) (9-4).  The Tigers (0-6) (1-13) probably played one of their best games of the season.  But it wasn't quite enough to spill the  Trojans.  Tuscarawas Valley, playing the game without regular Rod Cropper, who was sick at home with influenza, came up with a balanced scoring punch that proved fatal for the Tigers.  Four players scored in 2 figures.  Jim Studer tallied 19 points to lead the way.  Mike Widder was close behind with 17, while Ron Lake hit for 16 and Al Cerett 15.  Little Adrian Edie, the Strasburg sparkplug, poured in 20 points for game scoring laurels.  Jim Clymer added 15.  Strasburg enjoyed one of its best shooting nights of the season, making 24 of 55 from the field for 44 percent.  Strasburg also hit 14 of 23 free throws.  The Trojans were equal to the occasion, making 27 of 63 for 43 percent and adding 20 of 24 foul shots, a blistering 87 percent.  The Tigers lost Don  Wallick and Vic Gessner in the fourth period on fifth personal fouls.  The night began with the Strasburg Junior High team stroking the TV Junior High team 45-34  Next up was the Reserve game in which Tusky Valley (7-5) blasted Strasburg (7-6) 44-24.
