61 - Garaway Picks Up 6th At West Lafayette 77-53 (12-12-60)



COSHOCTON - The hustling Garaway Pirates (6-1) chalked up their sixth victory here Saturday night when they defeated the West Lafayette Generals.  The Pirates took a 15-9 lead at the end of the first period and increased it to 28-18 at halftime and 59-37 at the end of the third quarter.  Four Buccos tallied in double figures with Tom Andreas leading the way on 22 points.  Bob Raber picked up 17, while Roy Yoder had 11 and Bill Yakley 10.  Simmons led the Generals with 19 points.  "The boys showed a lot more hustle and spirit than they have displayed in the past several games." were among Coach Glenn Bower's remarks.  The first-year Pirate Coach added, "as far as we are concerned they made a big improvemnt in  that department."  The Garaway Coach also commended the team for a bangup job on the backboards where they grabbed 48 rebounds to the hosts' 24.  Garaway connected 20 times in 55 attempts from the field for 46 percent and West Lafayette made 16 of 58 for 28 percent.  The West Lafayette Reserves; however' put it to the Garaway Reserves (2-) by a score of 32-25.
