61 - Garaway's Defense Holds Up Again With 44-32 Win Over Midale (1-28-61)

BOLIVAR - Coach Glenn Bower of Garaway (6-0) (14-2) had nothing but praise for the work of his defensive minded Pirates.  The Bucs, who limited Midvale (3-3) (8-6) to 2 points in the opening quarter, were led in that defensive department by Tom Andreas.  The Senior veteran did a superb job on the Blue Devils' Neal Beans, limiting him to 2 points from the free throw line in the first half.  At the same time Bob Raber provided the fire power for Garaway by tallying 23 points.  Beans ended the night with 14 and Jim Leggett scored 10 for Midvale.  Garaway ended the night by meshing 21 of 58 field tries for 36.2 percent.  The best the Blue Devils could  manage was a weak 21 percent mark.  It hit only 10 times in 49 goal attempts.  The Midvale Reserves (9-5) beat the Garaway Reserves (7-4).  Score was not reported.
