61 - Close Call At West Lafayette For Garaway 56-55 (1-30-61)


WEST LAFAYETTE - Garaway (15-2) can thank itself for a strong comeback performance here Saturday night that netted it a narrow verdict over the West Lafayette Generals.  The pirates fell behind at the outset and it took 4 straight foul shots 2 each by Bud Yakley and Bob Raber to bring in  the victory.  West Lafayette had posted quarter margins  of 16-6, 33-24 and 41-38.  Raber led the triumph with 27 points.  Simmons topped the Generals with 16 points.  Garaway made 20 of 66 from the field for 30 percent, while West Lafayette hit 22 of 61 for 36 percent.  The West Lafayette Reserves handed the Garaway Reserves (7-5) another loss 38-35.
