61 - TV Clears The Bench Against Tusky 71-56 (1-7-61)


A big edge at the foul line propelled Tusky Valley (2-1) (6-2) to its 6th victory.  The Trojans made 29 of 40 charity tosses for a 73 percent mark, while Tuscarawas (1-3) (4-6) meshed 18 of 34 for 53 percent.  TV scored only 8 points in the third quarter after taking commanding margins of 20-9 and 40-23 at the end of the first 2 periods.  But Coach Bob Heller was clearing his bench at the time to give his subs valuable experience.  It didn't deter the Trojans one bit in their quest for victory as they picked up momentum in the final quarter, scoring 23 points.  Four Trojans hit in double figures with Jim Studer and Mike Widder sharing laurels with 21 points apiece.  Ron  Lake added 13 and Bill Huth 10.  Chet Summers led the Broncos with 18 points.  From the field theTrojans made 21 of 49 shots for 43 percent, while Tuscarawas managed only 19 for 58, a 33 percent mark.  The Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (3-5) chased down the Tuscarawas Reserves (6-3) 46-28.
