It has only happened twice in 20 years!  The tide finally turned last night for the patient Port Washington Purple Riders (1-1) (4-4) as they gunned down Strasburg (0-1) (1-4) for the second time since 1940.  They last niped the Bengals January 16, 1952 by 40-37.  Counting tourney and season play, Port had dropped 17 straight games to the Tigers until the skein was broken in 1952 and was a looser 10 straight times before last night's home victory.  Monopolizing the board play led by Jim Hannahs and Tony Nigro, Port pulled down 36 rebounds as compared to the Tigers' 24.  Jim Bender led the scoring with 23 and Bill Phillips canned 18 for Port.  Jim Clymer was high for Stgrasburg with 20 and Adrian Edie followed with 14.  The Strasburg Reserves (4-1) started the night by pouncing on the Port Washington Reserves (2-4) 24-17.
