61 - Gnaden Falls To United Local 58-40 (1-28-61)


HANOVERTON - Spearheaded by a fine 6-5 center, United Local of near Hanoverton in Coumbiana County took the measure of Gnadenhutten (8-7) last night on the victors' court.  Gnaden suffered on the boards as they went without the services of Junior forward 6-3 Dave Struchen who hurt an ankle last Friday.  Stuchen will be out at least 2 weeks.  United led all the way with Dick Mayer 6-5 center sparking the hosts with fine board control.  They posted quarter leads of 17-7, 28-15 and 44-21.  Ray Rank led the Indians with 12 points, while Bill Blickensderfer potted 10.  Shaffer was high for United with 23.  The night started off with the Reserve game and United Local claimed victory 35-33 over Gnaden (6-7).
