67 - On The Court With The Tuscarawas Valley Trojans

ZOARVILLE - Tuscarawas Valley, led by 2nd-year mentor Bill Frye, will be hoping to launch its 1966-67 season with a victory tonight when it meets Dover St. Joseph in the Dover High Gym.  Much of the Trojans bid for success this year will depend on Dick Harvey and Ray Nist, their 2 leading scorers during the 1965-66 season.  Both are 5-10 Seniors.  Harvey scored 150 points last year and Nist 148.  Nist; however, is not expected to see much action early on as he is recovering  from a knee operation.  Joining his duo are 2 other Senior lettermen:

Dave Clugston 5-9
Tom Shroyer 6-3

Both saw limited action in 1965-66's campaign with Clugston scoring 144 points and Shroyer accounting for 19.

Even though he has 4 veterans around which to build his squad, Coach Frye feels that any success the Trojans enjoy will also be dependent upon the performances of serveral other players.  He names:

Junior Larry Adams 6-1
Junior Jim Burkhart 6-1
Junior Curt Norris 6-0
Sophomore Tom Moore 5-9

Last year St. Joseph and Tuscarawas Valley split a pair of matches, the Ramblers winning the 1st one 49-47 and the Trojans the second, 64-48.  altogether the 2 teams have collided 6 times with the Trojans winning 4.
