67 - Midvale Gets 1st Win As They Nip Jewett 67-66 (12-6-66)

MIDVALE - Down by 10 points with 3 minutes to play, the Midvale Blue Devils (1-2) launched a comeback and overtook Jewett here last night for the win.  The Blue Devils tied the game when Gene Ford swished a pair of foul shots with one minute to play.  With time running out the Devils went to the offensive again, an effort climaxed when Lee Eberly sank a foul shot with only one second remaining in the game.  It was the 1st victory of the 1966-67 season for Midvale, which entertains Guernsey County power, Madison, on Saturday night.

Mike DeMattio paced the Midvale attack by pouring in 23 points and grabbing 17 rebounds.  Lee Eberly was right behind him with 19 markers and 11 rebounds, while 6-1 Bob Carlisle snared 14 rebounds and scored 12 points.  Adrian Tharp's 16 and Nolan Hawkins' 14 were high for Jewett.  Bernie Wilson added 12.  Midvale made 28 of 67 field goal attempts and 11 of 26 free throws,  while Jewett hit 24 of 67 from the floor and 18 of 26 foul shots.

The Midvale Reserves (1-2) also won their 1st game of the season by downing the Jewett Reserves 62-56.
