County Tourney warfare resumes tonight at Memorial Hall here with two berths in next week's Class A sectional riding on the outcome. The opening contest at 7:30 pairs Midvale (17-2) and Garaway (12-10), while the nightcap will be played by Gnadenhutten (16-5) and Stone Creek (13-8). In addition to advancing to the sectional the two winners will return to the hall Saturday night at 8:00 to vie for the tourney championship and Daily Reporter trophy. Other awards also will be made at the conclusion of the contest. The sectional starts at Memorial Hall on Tuesday with the drawings Sunday at Helmkamp's Restaurant here. In addition to the local tourney winners of the field will include Berlin and Big Prairie-Lakeville from Holmes County, who meet for the county tourney title at Millersburg Saturday night; winners of the Carroll County tourney, and the qualifiers - Dover St. Joseph's, Dennison St. Mary's, Dennison and Millersburg. More than 1,700 fans are expected to ace tonight's clashes here. Midvale, County League Champion, will play against Garaway, which has tourney wins over Strasburg and TuscarawasValley. Midvale advanced to the semi-finals with a triumph over Port Washington (1-18). Gnadenhutten, second-place finisher in the league race, has a tourney verdict over Tuscarawas. Stone Creek, which tied Tuscarawas Valley for third place in the league, has a tourney decision over Baltic. During the regular season, Midvale defeated Garaway 71-66 and Gnadenhutten beat Stone Creek 57-51 and 64-41. Gnadenhutten is the defending tourney titlist, having whipped Stone Creek in last year's finale. Midvale won last year's consolation crown and then copped the regional title on its way to the state semi-finals. Because of a smaller field this year there is no consolation division in the present classic.
