In a high school Tuscarawas County League Baseball game last night, Garaway's Pirates (1-0) defeated Port Washington (0-1) 10-2 behind the one-hit pitching of Charlie Stingel. Stingel whiffed 11 and walked four and also had two hits. John Landon and Jim Bender handled the mound duties for the losers and yielded a total of 11 hits. Tom Andrews paced Garaway at the plate with a triple and single, while Koran Zehinder chipped in with two singles. Garaway's big inning was in the fifth when five markers crossed the plate.

The Gnadenhutten Indians (1-0) routed the Stone Creek Panthers (0-1) 4-1 last night in a county league baseball game as Ron Bradley hurled a one-hitter to notch his first win of the season.
