Pirates Rip Purple Riders 73-31 (2-11-50)

Sugarcreek-Shanesville's vaunted Pirates had little difficulty in steamrollering Port Washington's Purple Riders (4-11) as the losers failed to cash numerous easy shots from the field. Coach Gerald Straley's hoopsters took command early in the game and were never pushed by the invaders as they posted quarter leads of 19-8, 37-17, and 60-28. The Pirates' Glen Zimmerman, who turned in one of his best scoring efforts of the season, rimmed 26 markers while his mates, Richard (Ike) Hostetler, Jim Knox and Wayne Schrock, netted 17, 13 and 10 points respectively. James Gallion packed the losers with 10. Sugarcreek-Shanesville's Reserves topped Port Washington's Reserves 40-32.
