Five Schools Gain All-Tournament Berths (2-27-50)

Five Tuscarawas County schools are represented on the Daily Reporter tournament team named following the close of the meet last Friday night at Memorial Hall. The players were chosen on a basis of tourney play and season performances were not considered. Glen Zimmerman Sugarcreek-Shanesville's great play-maker and offensive standout, was placed at a forward berth along with Strasburg's set shooting ace, Tom Miller. Midvale's rangy center, Bob Sherrell, earned the center post while Maurice Lundenberger, Bolivar's big threat, and Harold Ridenour, the Stone Creek sparkplug, drew the guard berths. Although Lundenberger is a center, he was placed at a guard post to make room for Sherrell. Bolivar's Cardinals placed one man on the second team, Ed Grossenbacher, while Midvale's Car Pissocra gained a berth with the second five. Richard (Ike) Hostetler of Sugarcreek-Shanesville was named to the second team along with Jerry Rausch of Tuscarawas and Don Gepfert of Strasburg. The honorable mention list includes Bill Willard, Carl McFeeders, and Bob Burkhart at Bolivar; Jim Knox and Wayne Schrock of Sugarcreek-Shanesville; Dick Froman and Jim Huffman of Strasburg; Harry Rennicker of Midvale; Ronnie Kohler and Bill Tharp of Tuscarawas; Dean Huprich of Baltic; Bill Jones of Port Washington; Dale Adams of Mineral City; Dale Brick and Ronnie Kohl of Gnadenhutten; Loris Hostetler of Dundee; Jim Pfeiffer and Gene McPherson of Stone Creek.
