Port Trounces Broncos 77-42 (1-9-57)
PORT WASHINGTON - Coasting all the way, the Port Washington Purple Riders (8-4) had an easy time last night as they romped to a lopsided victory over the Broncos of Tuscarawas (0-9). The victory was the fifth straight for Coach Jim Pfeiffer's Riders. Ahead 23-14 and 48-28 at the end of the first two quarters, Port Washington raced to a 65-37 edge at the final break. Reserves began taking over late in the third frame and the entire Purple Rider varsity was on the bench the final period. Ed Bates and Nick Frank led the way with 19 and 17 points, respectively, while Frank Adams and Tom Vesco hit 16 and 12, respectively, for the Broncos. A total of 42 personals were called, 24 against the Broncos who lost three cagers via the foul route. One Rider committed five fouls. Port Washington made only 19 of 40 free throws, while Tuscarawas hit on 16 of 29.
